To generate the CMDI. each household that cannot afford the item is assigned a value of 1 (all others: 0). Multiplied by the proportion ofthe population that has the item, then summed and divided over the total number of items. The idea behind weighting the item by the proportion of the population that has the item is that not having it may have a greater impact the more people have it.The index range from 0 to 1. with 1 representing a child lacking all items that everybody else has.

Questions for adult who is respinsible for children aged 0-16 in the household whether (all) child(ren) have or do:
A. A family holiday away from home for at least one week a year?
B. Enough bedrooms for every child of10 or over of a different sex to have their own bedroom?
C. Leisure equipment such as sports equipment or a bicycle?
D. Celebrations on special occasionssuch as birthdays, Christmas or other religious festivals?
E. Go swimming at least once a month?
F. Ahobby or leisure activity?
G. Have friends around for tea or a snack once a fortnight?
H. Go to a toddler group, nursery or playgroup at least once a week?
I. Go on school trips?
