Operationalization
Ss classified according to whether the transition they faced at T1,  had taken place at T2 or T3 (2 or 5 years
later).
1: late   : no transition at T3
2: on-time:transition between T2 and T3
3: early  : transition before T2
The transitions faced at T1  are:

-Mean happiness scores over 5 years (average  T1,
T2 and T3) and at T1, T2 and T3 separately),
rated on a 3-point scale : 1:very happy, 2:
pretty happy, 3:not too happy
-Blank coloms/rows indicate insignificant
differences.
-Stress measured by repeated negative events in
the past year.
-Young= high school seniors+ newly weds
Old  = middle aged parents+ elderly
