a: 5 items on features of the dwelling
b: 14 items on neighborhood characteristics

Respondents also rated the importance of each item on a 5-point scale ranging from 'unimportant' to ' very important' (1 to 5). For each item a satisfaction by importance product was computed.
The sum of these products provided an overall measure for residential congruence.
