Operationalization
Activity level was assessed by a modified version of the instrument used by Wan and his associates (Wan et al., 1982). Items in the scale were modified to suit the lifestyles and customs of ethnic Chinese persons and activities that may be interest or customary to the Chinese, such as playing mahjong, tai chi or going for tea, were added to the instrument.
