| Recruitment of respondents done by coordinator of the Good Life@South East Program based on criteria provided by the researchers. Good Life provides a holistic and broad array of programs for the elderly. |

| 2 groups:
6 are 'fresh' members (less than 6 months member of the Good Life center)
6 are 'regular' members (>18 months member).
Each group equally divided between 3 education levels: no education, primary education and secondary education.
All respondents had to be married and nonworking. |

| Semi-structured interview consisting of 5 domains: demographics, background information (length and frequency of membership), life satrisfaction, happiness level, and establishment of new friendships.
Life satisfaction and happiness were assessed before and after joining the good life program.
Interviews were audiorecorded and lasted 1-2 hours.
The interviews were conducted from december 2004 to february 2005. |
