 For Spanish-speaking individuals, all questionnaires were first translated into Spanish. They were then back translated into English by a different Spanish-speaking professional.
SampleNon-probability purposive-expert sample
 The spinal cord injury sample was recruited from the Spinal Cord Injury Clinic at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center (RLAMC). The post-polio sample was recruited from the Post-Polio Clinic at RLAMC and from the community. The non-disabled participantswere matched in age to the polio sample and came from the same neighbourhoods as the post-polio group. They were recruited by word-of-mouth contact by the polio participants and from local newspaper articles.
