 Sampling was drawn from the list of persons with Chinese surnames who were on the rooster of the British Columbia Medical Services Plan.
Respondents N =2158
 The list of elderly Chinese living in sampling area included 2500. Of these 2158 were contacted.
Non Response28.5%
 No contact was ever made with 296 cases (the telephone was out of order, the person no longer lived in the area, there was no answer after ten attempsts). 775 cases was inelligible since the person was not Chinese, was too frail/ill to come to the telephone, was away for a long period, or had died. In 242 cases the person fefused to be interviewed.
AssesmentInterview: face-to-face
 Respondents were interviewed in their own homes by trained Chinese interviewers, both seniors and non-seniors, in the language of their choice.
