Abstract Chapter 5 of Introductory Text to Bibliography of Happiness

SELECTION FOR INCLUSION OF REPORTED RESULTS IN THE FINDING ARCHIVE

All publications are read to see 1) whether they report an empirical study on happiness, and if so, 2) whether the measure(s) of happiness used in that study fit the concept of happiness as defined in chapter 2 of this introductory text: Concept of Happiness.

Fit with this concept was assessed by close reading of measures. this procedure is called ‘face validity’ testing.

About half of the indicators that are presented as a measure of happiness appear to tap something else that happiness as defined here.

Accepted measures are included in the Collection Measures of Happiness of this database and the findings yielded with these measures are included in the collections of Distributional findings on Happiness and/or Correlational findings on happiness
